The world’s slowest MySQL machine

August 19th, 2002 | No Comments | Filed in Technology

I’ve got MySQL running on an internal webserver. It’s a P133 machine with 32MB of ram and 3GB of disk space.

I just asked it to run about 120,000 queries and dump the results in a file. The file grew to seven meg, and it took about four hours to run.

I’m now pushing the results back into the database and it’s been going 15 minutes.

More database thrashing is to follow shortly, assuming I’ve not just put mess into the db and wasted half the day :)

Waiting for my Nuon and to hear about the interview I went to. Waiting sucks… going slightly mad waiting now :?
